Managing world-class research to inform the nation's health

Welcome

The University of Southampton is home to the NIHR Evaluation, Trials and Studies Coordinating Centre (NETS-CC) which was established in April 2008.

NETS-CC is overseeing a growing number of programmes that are managed on behalf of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The centre was created to meet challenges arising from the national research strategy Best Research for Best Health and the Government’s decision to fund in full the recommendations of the Cooksey Review, expanding the joint health research fund to £1.7 billion by 2010. Under new arrangements the funding will be split between the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the Medical Research Council (MRC), with the NIHR receiving £992 million, an increase of over £290 million.

This is an exciting time for NETS-CC, with rapid expansion of current research programmes as well as establishing and taking on new programmes. For this reason, we are recruiting for a significant number of posts over a period extending to late 2008. We are looking for people with either a background in health research, with clinical knowledge or experience in a management or a support role.

However, it is not just us who will experience growing success. With us, you will have the opportunity to develop in your career, too.
